1. What is your role and expertise QMV and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?
I am a senior consultant at QMV that specialises in superannuation and funds management clients with a broad skill set across of systems analysis, business analysis and data analysis. I have experience in SQL, FactSet, Xplan, Acurity, Power BI and more with working knowledge of portfolio management, equity research, financial advice, and superannuation administration.
You can come to me for a range of different things though! Whether it be accessing my knowledge and expertise, having a sounding board for ideas or even just for a laugh!
2. What is one professional skill you are currently working on or have completed?
I completed my Diploma of Financial Planning in 2020. During the program, I gained knowledge in the areas of financial planning, life insurance and superannuation in Australia. It provided me a solid foundation for the project that I am currently working on in the superannuation advice space. It is fantastic to be able to learn something in theory then be able to apply the knowledge in practice.
3. Who or what has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?
There have been many strong influences over the years, and in different aspects of work, but as a collective I generally admire the drive of entrepreneurs. Most exhibit a level of resourcefulness and grit that you have to appreciate. I find that adopting a “never say die” and “there’s never failure only learnings” type of mindset has positively influenced my approach to work.
4. What behaviour or personality trait do you most attribute your success and why?
Being adaptable and venturesome.
I am the type of person who is very flexible in my approach to things whether it be in my professional or personal life. I think this characteristic manifested overtime from me throwing myself, head-first, into situations that I have not experienced before.
For example, I had previously started a YouTube channel with very little experience in content creation, marketing and social media but had bootstrapped my way to over 10,000 subscribers and a revenue generating business in less than a year. I have since halted the channel and am in the process of creating my own apparel business where I am learning about design, manufacturing, logistics, marketing and e-commerce.
Having these types of experiences, I have noticed that I am lot more confident in my ability to adapt and pick up new things which translates well into other areas of life, including my role at QMV.
5. What is one thing that surprised you about working at QMV?
The level of autonomy that I have in my role. It feels great to be at a company where I am trusted to exercise my best judgement and, simply, just do my best work. In addition, there is a lot of expertise in the company that I can call upon if I ever need help. It definitely is an environment that cultivates positive vibes.
